Oh, no problem, I was just referring to the labels on Google Maps when zooming in. Thanks for the info, and I'll certainly look into this!

Mitchell is the old School near University and Hardy which is now a Park. I use to take my dog to the dog park there until she got mange. I went to Jr High at Gilliland about 30 years ago which is on the other side of Hardy from Mitchell. These are nice older areas of Tempe. You may encounter a lot of rentals for ASU students. Clark Park ( Broadway/Roosevelt) has a nice like farmers market there I went last weekend and picked up a few items it's where the old pool us to be. This is a nice area and you can definitely see reno's on a lot of the houses and as you get further away from ASU less students. Holderman Near Broadway and Priest is an area that has older homes I don't go there much anymore so not sure what stage the neighborhoods are.

TempeAZnative, thanks a lot for your info... this is helpful as well. I'm learning a lot so far just from these responses. Maybe I will get lucky and find a small home/casita, time will tell. Tempe seems to be a very unique city and I look forward to exploring it.

Isn't the Central Phoenix neighborhood that you're thinking of "better" than NW Tempe in terms of crime? (break ins and some violent crime)?

I don't think there's much difference, frankly. I don't think violent crime is a huge issue in either area.
