My fave things about Phoenix:

1) great Mexican food

2) great highway "murals" (ie along parts of the 101)

3) beautiful spring and fall weather

4) short drives to Mexico, San Diego, Flagstaff, Sedona, Grand Canyon, etc

5) desert preserves

6) desert critters (that you all love to hate)
I posted on the 19th, and you posted a reply two days later on the 21st. I hope you aren't confused by that, since I heard it wasn't unusual for the temperature to change over two days' time. Especially in Chicagoland!

FYI, My temperature is always within 2 degrees of KSDL's METAR, and the 19th was no exception. I "only" have three outdoor thermometers and they all seem to agree with each other, strangely enough. I'm a little bit of a weather nut.

The National Weather Service validated my readings from the 19th: The recorded temperatures were 71/52.

On the same day (you know... just for reference), Chicago had 14/06, and the daytime windchill at ORD was... THREE! Made Phoenix feel just about 70 degrees warmer, give or take a few degrees. The ambient temperature was "only" around 56 degrees warmer, again, give or take a few. Since the 21st was a couple of days later, I'm not surprised that it had "warmed up" to a tropical 22 in Chicago, while it cooled to an Arctic 60-something here.

I love the heat, the open skies, the cactus and rock landscaping, the unsual mountains that look like Mars, the shiny and new "lots of everything", and the people are very friendly. Granted, I do not live in Arizona any longer, but when I was there, I'd hang out in Phoenix about once or twice a month (I lived in Tucson).
My partner and I are strongly considering Sedona for retirement (in 20 years or so)...we may even consider Scottsdale/Tucson...we'll wait and see.
