I had Thanksgiving dinner at the Wild Horse and afterwards we gambled in the main casino. I have never smoked in my life and none of the people I was with do either. I didn't notice any issues with a smoke odor that day, while we were there or after we returned home.

Just to point out that in Canada......ALL public buildings, including all casinos are smoke free. That is national legislation, that covers the whole country.

The actual wording is this. No smoking ( of anything ) in any place where people are being paid to work.

So. offices, manufacturing plants, buses, airplanes, cafes, hotels including the guest rooms, bars, and so on. It doesn't matter if it is a "private club " or not. No exceptions.

We also make it as costly as possible to buy tobacco products, and we regulate the packaging, with full colour photos of diseased lungs and mouth cancers. The packages now have very tiny lettering for the brand name, and 70 percent of the surface of the package has those photos and 1-800 numbers to call if you decide that you want to kick your addiction. We also provide free stop smoking kits, at every pharmacy, and medical clinics.

Canada has not allowed tobacco advertising, of any kind for more than 30 years. No magazine ads, no TV ads, no bill boards. We have also banned chewing tobacco , flavoured cigars and menthol smokes because we have found that those are the products that appeal to teens the most.

In Canada today it is socially offensive to smoke in any public place, and it is not unusual for smokers to be told off by others for doing so.

Oh and while we are talking about Casinos.....

In Canada, all of them are licenced by the Provincial Governments ( we have 10 Provinces and 3 Territories ) and the management fees are set at a flat 20 percent of the profits. The money made by the Province goes directly to wards health care and support for the education budgets. SO when a person buys a lottery ticket, or gambles at a casino, part of every dollar goes to help pay for my medications or transplants for kids.

A final point about gambling in Canada.......If you win any amount at a casino or on the lottery... You get to keep ALL OF IT. No tax at all on gambling wins here. And all lottery prizes are paid in full at the time that you claim the prize, no staggered pay outs, no offers to take a reduced payment.

I get it, smoking is bad for your health, I'm a non-smoker myself. However, I disagree that the government should make it a legislation, by taxing the hell out of it, banning it everywhere. Businesses, whether it's a big corporation or small mom 'n pop chain should have their say whether to make their place a smoke free environment.

IRC we had smoke free casinos in Cripple Creek, COLO, since I visited a few times and never had a problem with any smoke. It can be done.

Experts tell us that gambling is an addictive behavior, as are drinking and smoking, and that such addictions tend to travel in packs, thus at these casinos we can see a person on a stool doing all 3 at one time; drinking, smoking and gambling. For good measure we can throw in promiscuity as geezers try to hit on the waitresses.

I limit my "gambling" to staying home and playing 'solitaire' on-line for free. Having grown up poor I will not throw my money away like that in any casino, smoke free or not.

If the local casinos had sports books I'd be in there more, but since they don't I just do my sports betting online and maybe pop in once a year to the Chandler casino on a whim to throw $200 in the high limit slot, or a game of blackjack. Not much of a fan of slots but usually the high limit wheel of fortune machine gives me something
