Looking to rent/buy a place and not sure if we want the hassle of having our own pool. What neighborhoods have really nice pools/fitness centers etc. And do any have food by the pool? We don't necessarily need golf but I'm not sure if there are many neighborhoods that have all the amenities where you don't have to purchase a golf membership. Thanks!

In what area? Windgate Ranch, DC Ranch and McDowell Mountain Ranch come to mind as HOAs with nice community pools. Many homes within those neighborhoods will have private pools as well though.

Scottsdale is a huge area. There are dozens of communities that can offer you resort style pools, health clubs and community activities with or without golf. Of course price, location, age of community, and other amenities all play in to it.

Do you wish to be near Old Town or can you be in one of the northern sections of town?

Is age of the home important?

What other interests do you have besides swimming?

Will a builder community satisfy you or do you need a custom home?

So many questions...

Food by the pool? I'd guess that you're only going to find that in a country club community.

These are all similar to what we are looking for: Windgate Ranch, DC Ranch and McDowell Mountain Ranch. We like North or East Scottsdale, but doesn't necessarily have to be Scottsdale. We also like Desert Ridge which is Phoenix. We would rent first, but looking for at least 2,000 sq. ft, 3 bedroom. To buy we would like to stay under $600,000 if possible. Thanks!

Why not take a look at Terravita in far North Scottsdale. Excellent community with wonderful Country Club that includes a full service restaurant, great resort pool with spa, shaded areas, cabanas and poolside food service. The community also has a very large health club and 8 tennis courts (with full time Pro). All the homes have open space behind or along side which double as walking/hiking trails.

Golf membership is available but not required.

Activities in community include: Themed parties, comedy night, fashion shows, wine tastings, seminars and numerous clubs.

Nestled in the foothills of N. Scottsdale you are just minutes away from shopping, dining and loads of recreation. 5 minutes from downtown Carefree & Cave Creek, 10 minutes to Scottsdale 101, 15 minutes from Desert Ridge.

Terravita should meet all your needs.

Thanks AZJoeD! I love Terravita! It is exactly what we are looking for. I hadn't looked that far north so I hadn't seen it. I see you are a realtor so I'm sure you know the area well. Thanks!
