We lived in Goodyear for 2 years and just moved to Litchfield Park last summer and I absolutely love it. We looked at probably 15 homes in Goodyear and Surprise before deciding on this one. I guess it has the best school district in the west valley, but I homeschool my kids so that's a non-issue.
The main reason why I love LP are locations. It is close to Goodyear/Avondale, 10 mins from Westgate, 20 from Arrowhead (mall and restaurants), and still only 25 mins from downtown Phoenix. Not to mention every grocery store you could want is within a 5 minute radius.
You will definitely find something within your price range. We got a 4 bedroom home with a pool for well within your budget.
We really liked Goodyear as well. But for me, the location wasn't as handy and I hated taking the 10 every time I wanted to go somewhere.
Also, this seems silly, but Goodyear (south of I 10 where we were) quite often smelled like cows in the evenings. It got to where I didn't want to sit outside or have dinner parties and that is honestly one reason we moved to AZ. Moved to LP, problem solved.
Let me know if you have any specific questions about the area!

You always spout this nonsense (previously you were including Estrella) but when confronted you admitted you had not been out to the Goodyear area in like a decade. How is it you know this?

Goodyear south of the 10 seems pretty normal to me and plenty of typical Phoenix area newer-built homes laid out in curvilinear, subdivided fashion as well as some larger lots and homes like those MN linked to.

I think maybe the poster was confused and thinking of Avondale with the "south of the I-10" advice?

I think Estrella is really cool but, yeah, it's so far out there that makes it not feasible for most people who leave the home to go to work.

I've lived in Goodyear, south of the I-10 for 9 years, and it is a great place to live. There are pro's and con's to every place, however, we enjoy the slower pace and less traffic south of the 10. We get pissed-off every time we are in the Litchfield Rd/Dysart Rd. area north of the 10 with the mass of traffic. Glad we don't have to deal with that mess on a daily basis getting to and from our home.

Unfortunately, it is only a matter of time before that mass of traffic moves closer to our house.

It's because you state your preference as a fact, while ignoring that there are many nice areas and some advantages south of the 10.

I've lived on both sides and there are definitely aspects I miss from being south.
