I have considered placing my resume with a recruitment company. I wonder if there is anyone here that obtained a job that way. The company I have been looking at claims that they will place my resume in a pool of resumes and if they match me with a company with a position that I qualify for, the recruitment company will contact me before giving my information out. They also say they can set up a phone interview so I don't have to fly out there for an initial interview. (I know I would eventually have to fly out if it looked like I would actually be seriously considered for a job.) That would be great for me as I live in Maine. I am just interested in finding out if this has worked for anyone. I understand companies not wanting to hire someone that lives so far away. My husband was offered a job in Arizona last year, after several phone interviews we flew out. We were told before we went that the job was his if he wanted it but that they would like to meet him in person. Once we got there they told him that they were very concerned that we would make the move out there and not like it and would want to leave. Therefore they did not give him the job. I am glad of course that we found this out before we moved (even though we had rented out our home and put things in storage and were staying with family until we made the final move.)
Anyway..after all of my rambling, I am curious to see if this way of locating a job has worked for anyone else. |

If you are not required to put up a payment and you recognize the company name, have investigated their website or can find verify references, it could be viable. Most employing companies will pay all fees including relocation for the candidate they want. Keep in mind much of the fee may have to be paid back subject to completing a probationary period. The key is how much of track record you have. The best jobs seem to be available though word of mouth. You get the call when your busy doing your current job. Good Luck! Just be sure to read the contract before you sign.
I was hired by a recruiter but they called me I wasn't looking. Way back when ( college) I was a recruiter/ "mitzy girl" / salesman processor. (mitzy typed 50 wpm w/ 40 mistakes) It was bogus......cleint paid upfront for jobs that should have been easy for them to find themselves. |
