We can show off, but for those of us who work in and around downtown every day, it was a hassle. The crowds were large, the traffic was horrible, the pedestrians were oblivious to cars and crosswalks... it was a mess. Sprinkle in the college d-bag, chest-bumping crowd type and it was easy to see how he was annoyed. I work in downtown, and all my clients are right in the area, and it wasn't easy dealing with all the blocked roads and pedestrians.

You mean it was like Chicago, NYC, SF are every day?

I'm sure it was a huge inconvenience for 1 or 2 week days but even my friends who worked downtown didn't seem to care, I'm surprised to hear the negativity from people who complain about downtowns lack of activity most days.

I agree.
What some of these posters fell to understand is the billionaires absolutely love coming to the Valley.
They are the ones who decide major event locations.
College athletics is big business with deep pocket people who drives it.
All major events are decided by television revenue most of the time.
I believe market wise we're #12.
There will always be a major event here because of market size which is driven by ad revenue.
A good example is the NFL.
The owners meeting were just here last week. They actually meet here every other year.
Why? Because the billionaire owners love Arizona.
Why do you think the Coyotes haven't left here yet....and won't leave, market. Television revenue.
What you have to look at is this..............how many major events have Arizona bidded on and wasn't successful.
We are in the position to bid on any event and win.
We're a proven commodity to the people who matter!
