Moving to Scottsdale Area
All I'm considering moving to Scottsdale area. The job location is by "Cap Basin Sports Complex".
I have a few question I hope you can answer:
1. Where is a nice area to live within a 30 minute drive of this locations? closer is preferred. We have three children. A 3000 sq. ft home will be about right and will want a pool. Need to keep costs below 450K if that is possibe. Schools are very important as well.
We could just go for a community pool if it is close to the house.
2. Is there enough outdoor activities to do there? hiking, biking, rock climbing?
Thanks
OB

Usually Scottsdale goes for over $200/sf, so you're looking at more than $600k for the sf you want. Have you checked out any real estate in Scottsdale yet? You may be able to find a few homes in S. Scottsdale. Check out realtor.com and check them out. Your Cap Basin place is in N. Scottsdale (Frank Lloyd Wright and Hayden) where the prices are a bit higher than what I stated.
If you want to be close and in a good "Scottsdale" location, check out zip 85254. The prices will still be high. If you cross over the border and into 85032 you might be able to find a fixer for your price.

Where is what you are talking about??? You can find a home in Scottsdale for 450K, but 3000 square feet - probably not.

There are many options!
I live quite close to where your potential job location is in the Kierland Area.
About 10 minutes west around Tatum and Bell are some nice well kept neighborhoods that are within your price range. Most of the 2,500 sq. ft.+ homes are double story in the area. Schools are good. Many to choose from for private and Paradise Valley Schools for public. I would certainly look around that area. Moderator cut: no soliciting allowed Good Luck!

I agree 85254 is good, try McCormick Ranch. But I definately wouldn't do 85032 (near the PV mall) because the PV schools (other than Pinnacle) are terrible. Even Horizon isn't as good as it used to be. If you could live in the Pinnacle area (near Desert Ridge) it would be about a 15 minute drive.

I see that the Tatum ranch has homes in my price range. What are the positives/negatives of this area?
Thanks

I like Tatum Ranch. It's just a little farther North than Desert Ridge. And in Tatum Ranch, it's PV schools so that's very good too. And you still might want to try the McCormick Ranch area. We are closing on our house there this month. You can still get pretty good deals there. We just bought a 4 bedroom, 2 bath (2200 sq.ft) for 443K. It was a flipped house so everything was brand new (travertine, granite, etc) Just keep an eye out on that area.

Is that PV high school, Cactus Shadows or Pinnacle? Or some other school?
Sorry, I just don't feel like looking up the school district.
