I'm sure the Sonoran properties have more restaurants now than they used to. Playa Bonita has a decent and quite lively at times restaurant, too.
There's plenty of info online, ya know...

Can't imagine shopping changed... As far as drinking, the legal drinking age in Mexico is 18, but I'm pretty sure they don't care to enforce it. Why does this matter to you? Your daughter will be with you, right? Don't remember what the vendor situation was when I stayed at Sandy Beach... The vendors are normally allowed on the beach, but not on the premises where apparently you'll be hanging out. They might be kicked out altogether by now...
When are you going anyway? It's way too early to go to Rocky Point. The season starts on Memorial Day weekend. There've been some years when it was cold even then.

thanks! I went to the Rocky Point Online forum the first time we went down there!
The whole alcohol thing drives me nuts. No, my daughter won't always be with me during the day and she is a senior in high school.....
There are a whole slew of parents from her high school that go during spring break. We're going wednesday through saturday and driving down with several other families. From that part it will be so much fun!
This is a yearly ritual with many families from Desert Mountain, so I'm really looking forward to it.
So far the projected temperature readings are high 70's. Not really sure what the low will be, but I'll bring warm stuff for the nights.
Come on down with us!

Well, didn't we agree that if you raised your kids right you don't need the society as a babysitter...

Thanks. That's sweet of you! To me Rocky Point is just a beach destination and a compromise at that... Don't see a good reason to go when it's not warm. Besides, I just moved and am surrounded by boxes and a major mess. Only my Internet addiction can explain where in the world I find some energy to type...

why rocky point??? I never understood the fascination with vacationing to border towns for spring break, other than for minors trying to drink before the age of 21...I was there about 2 years ago...Not my cup of tea. I prefer staying on this side of the border.
I was arrested in Tijuana for simply sitting at a taco stand eating a taco. A couple other american's were in a bar and got into a scuffle. Ran out, and I get involved in the mix up, because I was american as well.

Right, and I just got off the phone with the mother of the girl we are bringing with us. I am BY FAR the strictest mom there and I am going to have my work cut out for me trying to make sure they are behaving. But, hopefully, my daughter will be more careful than some of the other kids. I'm going down this year because my daughter went with another family, after what I heard, NO WAY was she going down without me this year!

OK, but before I head back to the east coast I'd love to have a forum get together! The about.com people always have one too. I've been to one and it was quite fun!

Well because it's just a place where the families get together over the holiday. And because it's the closest large water area we can get to!
I'm not crazy about it either. We went several years ago, but our kids were young enough to want to banana boat ride, 4 wheel, boat cruise, shop , etc. with us. I'm bringing most of our own food and all our own water! LOL
I'm glad to go along, but I'm still pretty leary about it....

Well, sounds like you have a nice itinerary set up. And a great group of people to go with...So no matter what you should have a blast!!!!
Have fun on your trip. I wasn't trying to "bash" it or discourage you at all. I re-read my post after posting it, and realized it could have been interpreted that way. so my apologies if you got that vibe.
Another thing I didn't think about...Is while San Diego is not much farther, it sometimes doesn't seem like much of a vacation spot, and the hotels prices for one night there, would probably pay for the whole week in rocky point. So there truly are benefits to venturing down there. I was just being nieve i suppose.
