Best deal for Internet and Cable tv????
We just closed on our house near Tatum and Union Hills and we were told that Cox would be our internet/cable tv provider... I was wondering if we had any other choices and whats would the price be?
Cox wants $29.99 for internet and $44 for regular cable. Can I beat this?
thanks in advance,
JG

We have Cox right now. If you want faster internet connection, then it's the right choice. The competition (Qwest) only offers up to 3MB download speed. The place where we used to live at in Gilbert required us to get only Qwest. I'm so glad we moved.

Cox is the preferable choice. They seem to have a monopoly in the high-speed internet and cable TV market in the Phoenix area, and rightfully so, because I've been very happy with them.

We like Cox for internet, but plan to switch to DirectTV for cable because they offer more channels (including HD channels) and their rates are better. This is based upon a comparison I did about a month ago. We'll be switching after we get our new TV; we're just watching for the best price right now.

I concur with Great Joy. Cox has very good, reliable internet. But their bundle prices go up quickly if you want HD service. We have Directv and are happy, and also very happy with Cox internet.
By the way, Vonage or other VOIP phone options are worth considering since the internet is so reliable.

Remember to read the fine print. Often times the rates you see are introductory rates and go to "normal" prices eventually. I have seen this in the past with Direct TV. Cox is not immune to this practice either, I am currently trying to get them to give me a bundle rate which they say is for new customers. The rate is less than I pay now for the same services. It seems as a business you would want to keep your old customers as much as attract new ones.

I really dont care to get phone service with anyone since T-Mobile will be offering vonage style home phone service soon for a lot cheaper than Vonage.
I have heard well at least from the Qwest rep that Cox raises their rates two or three times a year, how true is that?

My cable bill with Cox has been the same for at least 2 years now. It may be longer than that. If you are talking to Quest about their "bundled" service remember that they go through Direct TV and therefore have been known to give the wrong price for service. Make sure you speak with a Direct TV rep before agreeing to a contract with Quest. Also from my earlier post, Cox did step up and give me the bundled rate for new customers so I am now getting an upgrade in phone features, internet speed and moving from expanded to digital cable for only $2 more per month.

This is Qwest doing their competitive selling. They overstate the increasing cable rates. My internet has been the same price for the year and a half I've had it. When I tried to get a bundle through Qwest, they were awful and couldn't answer any questions about the Directv portion of the bundle. I just hung up while on hold for a long time.
