I don't think so!! Parts of Mesa are rampant with prostitution and drugs. Laveen is nothing like it. There might be some houses here and there like that, but 98% of Laveen is fine. Have you ever been through Laveen or are you getting confused with central/South Phoenix. There is a big difference in case you didn't know. Laveen also has no projects in it either. The parts you must be thinking of are close to the Phoenix border.

I have been in Riverside and San Beranardino and there is strictly no comparison. There are also some really nice areas of Riverside too, so I don't know what you are talking about. You can't lump an entire town into totally bad.

What you're saying is absolutely true. There's always (or usually) good parts even in cities with bad reputations. I still think it's a pretty good analogy though. Hey, I'm probably not one to talk living in Mesa. But at least I've yet to hear gunshots here. If the original poster's story is true, that is pretty scary.

Default Living in Laveen Arizona

If you want to know about Laveen, then there are plenty of blogs to check out. There are also many Block Watch Groups that are very active. Go to TrailsidePointBlockWatch.org to start, or Google TrailsidePoint Block Watch. The Block Watch is VERY active in the community and does a lot of proactive stuff. I must say, I was the one that coined the phrase: Hoodside Point .... Why? Well I've lived here from the start (Trailside Point) in 2005, go visit the Block Watch website to see some of what's happened over the past 3 1/2 years!

Trailside Point School gets poor AIMS scores! The community is full of foreclosures, Section 8 housing, and rentals. Most of the original owners (the good ones) have either packed up and left, or are on the brink of doing so (or would if they could!).

It's not all doom and gloom. Within the next 6 months or so, the home owners will soon be running the HOA instead of a mystery Centex "Board". So there is some hope..........just most of us won't be around to see if it makes any difference. Graham

I just thought I'd bring this thread back up, from the last reply and say "wow". Things have changed, for the most part. It is fairly safe here in Trailside. Fairly quiet, though I have noticed an issue with crime, numerous gunshots at night. Police are never called out, so I'm guessing it's just a bunch of idiots shooting off guns. And it seems the Police Helicopters are called over the slightest thing, there was a fight between two people at a park in the neighborhood (Typical of a middle-class suburban community) and a police helicopter came out, shining lights in everyones windows, and yards. There's been maybe 10 break-ins in 5 months thorughout the whole community. Laveen Farms (New Richmond-American Community, Part of Trailside) has proven to be not so great, even thought it's still being built. Community is fairly clean, quiet, etc. The graffiti isn't "gang" graffiti either it's done by bored kids, and skaters. So overall, I consider it safe, not the greatest community, but doing much better.
