That's good news about Burton Barr. How did the history books on the 5th floor make out? There's a book that I neglected to check out that is no longer in the inventory.

I've used the Park Central library a couple of times already. Better than nothing, glad it's there.

From what I do know, a very small number in our collection was affected on the 5th floor. I don’t know the exact number. It’s something I can ask next week and respond back once I do find out.

I stopped by the Park Central library for the first time yesterday. For a temporary facility, it's not bad at all. Obviously, the basement space is no architectural wonder, and it's probably not very pleasant to work in a windowless environment. Nevertheless, there was good core collection of print materials, adequate furnishings, helpful staff, and strong wifi. One other detail I noticed: The library was pretty crowded, but among the diverse clientele, every single person seemed to be using the library for a library-related purpose: reading, research, study, or Internet access. Some visitors were just using the wifi for faster data on their phones, but no one was sleeping, staring into space, or shouting at imaginary enemies. Maybe it has something to do with the temporary library not being adjacent to the sketchy part of Hance Park. Also, since Park Central is private property, perhaps it is easier to remove disruptive visitors there. In any case, I'll be happy to see Burton Barr reopen, but it would be wonderful if some of the behavioral improvements seen at Park Central could be permanent rather than temporary.
