Gilbert is changing its traffic lights to lagging left-turn lights

After more than one decade, Gilbert will be reverting to leading left turn signals at most signalized intersections to match its surrounding neighbors.

I wonder, could Scottsdale and Goodyear soon follow? I have heard that there are already several signals in Scottsdale that have been changed to leading left, although Scottsdale hasn't officially changed its standard yet.

Since both leading & lagging are equally safe, then why not just do what the "Joneses" (Mesa, Chandler, et al) are already used to and have been doing for a while? Sounds like a plan, PJ.

Chandler once had a short-lived experiment with lagging left turn signals around the same time that Gilbert started it, but changed it back a year later.

What is the flashing yellow left turn arrow at 68th. St. and McDowell Rd. all about? If there isn't any traffic around, I will turn left when it starts flashing. That one is very confusing to me. Are people coming from other direction getting green signals?

Yes. Use caution and proceed if clear. You are turning across a green light.

I love these as well, especially at night instead of sitting on a red arrow with traffic around.

Good grief, all that angst in the article about left turn signals? Must be a slow news day in Gilbert.
