I just got confirmation today that the Stein Mart in Queen Creek will be closing.

I have bought clothes from there in the past, but recently the selection of styles that I like at that location has declined. As of December the Gilbert location had a better selection of styles that I like. My mother loves to shop there and she will surely miss it.

SteinMart doesn't waste time when it comes to closing underperforming stores. Good news is they keep a watch on areas they've closed in and if down the road there are good indications that opening a store again will be profitable, they do so.

It is interesting how each store chooses which brands to carry. The Queen Creek store stopped carrying IZOD except for sleepwear and footwear, while the Gilbert store stopped carrying Nautica except for dress shirts and luggage.

We decided to go there today. From what we were told, the lease was up for renewal, and the property owner (Vestar) was going to raise the rent. I'm guessing this store isn't profitable enough for the higher rent that the property owner was willing to charge.

Thanks for the investigation and follow up. They probably could have paid the additional rent if they didn't reduce the pink Izod inventory.

Speaking of this, I wonder what brands the Chandler location has. I never been to the Chandler location before. I was told that some of the employees of the Queen Creek location will be transferred either to the Gilbert or Chandler locations.

Could the owners have picked a worse name for their company
