You need to wash the windows both inside and out.

I'd also think about the light being let inside the house. Too much sun = heat.

I've been a desert rat most of my life.

Any other pros/cons for the high ceilings?

My first home had similar ceilings. I hated it...hot up stars cold down below.

Get a single story with 10 ft ceilings.

Are ceilings unique to Phoenix?

This thread is in the wrong place...where’s a moderator when you need them?

The OP is asking about cooling (and heating) concerns with this sort of ceiling. We've had threads like this before, talking about north/south vs east/west exposures, one story vs two, etc., and probably a ceiling discussion too, in the context of concerns about electric bills. Given the extreme summer temperatures here, (the winter is less of a problem, except for someone who likes to keep the house really warm) I think the thread is appropriate in this forum.

Feel free to report the original post and a mod will take a look at it and move it if they disagree with me. .

What are you talking about?!? If I want to eventually move to this area why would I post this somewhere else? I want to know about this particular issue from people who live in this particular area. Some people literally have nothing better to do. Thanks to all that took the time to give thoughts and advice.
