staying out of the sun and in the shade as much as you can, and drinking alot of water will go a long way towards making it easier to deal with the heat..

I came to Phoenix from the highly-dense, highly-multicultural city of San Francisco. It was a shock.

It's weird to think that someone from such a "highly-multicultural" city would have never traveled, to the point of being shocked by a pretty innocuous city.

I have travelled. And I have probably seen much more of Arizona than you.

LOL, then what do you find so “shocking”? There’s nothing shocking about a giant suburban city unless you’ve been in a bubble your whole life.

Los Angeles is shocking and dismaying. I've tried to make my peace with that place for forty years but I can't. When I first started visiting Phoenix in the early 90s I was put off by what I saw as more of the same mindless development--paving over the desert for another Home Depot and Lowes.
But something inside of me shifted. Moving to Oregon in 03 from the Bay Area, I came to really appreciate Phoenix in January. And I also think the desert won me over. It's an overpowering environment, and it's not for everyone. It's hard to compromise with the desert.

That's correct. It doesn't take long for the searing desert heat to finally fry your brain cells.

Haha. Like most people who live here have any interaction with the desert. It's just something outside your window if you live in the exurbs and something you only see on your drive to Flagstaff or San Diego if you live closer in.
