What a bunch of nonsense, and a complete waste of effort. Just what was supposed to have been accomplished by large cities shutting off lights for one hour?! Big cities are supposed to be about bright lights! To me, it's just another silly ploy by the eco nuts, and it solves absolutely nothing!

Gosh, I feel so much cooler already now that the lights of downtown Phoenix were turned off for one solid hour. Brrrrrrrr! I better put on my parka. I feel global cooling setting in!

How do you not get what was supposed to be accomplished by this?

Obviously less power consumption leads to less power needs to be produced which means less carbon monoxide etc. is released into the air.
Sydney, Australia was the first city to do this last year, and they calculated that turning off the lights for one hour equated to taking 48,000 cars off the road for one hour.

Oh, believe me, I do! More than you can imagine! I've seen this movie before and was really hoping to never see even worse sequel of it again. Unlike you, I've lived through scheduled blackouts and I'd say this great initiative most likely is the preamble to just that. The only difference is that here the mind control has been so unbelievable that it's welcomed with open arms. Guess you might have the excuse of not having a clue how this movie plays.
