I'm and 18 year old moving from the Midwest to either Phoenix or Long Beach and I Can't make up my mind. Does anybody know any pro and cons to each that could possibly make my decision easier?

Please Help

I'm going to be living in LA for one year to go to school, and right now I'm in the process of looking for apartments there and finding a place to live. In LA, you'll pay about 2-3 times more for rent than what it would cost to rent an equivalent quality place in Phoenix. Parts of Long Beach are really nice-- the expensive parts. The cheaper, northern parts of Long Beach are getting into "ghetto" territory, adjacent to Compton. LA has better weather, more fun things to do, more interesting places to visit, more of everything really... but you sacrifice a LOT when it comes to "quality of life," versus a place like Phoenix. For a young person though, it might very well be worth it; living in a giant mega city like LA is an experience that you simply can't duplicate in Phoenix.

Ok, I agree with the above posts that Ca is much more expensive than Phoenix, but honestly if it were me I'd try California. You're young once and you'd have a lot more to do and see in CA than in Phoenix. When you are ready to slow down come back and see us here in the desert. It's nice, but you must be willing to accept it for what it is.

Default Visit both for a couple of weeks!

Visit both first, then decide!

Sourthern Cal is a happening place...

But it is expensive!

Phoenix may be affordable and is about a five hour drive, or 45 minutes by plane!

Ahhh to be 18 again. If I was 18 today, and could afford it, I'd go to CA. There is so much to do up and down the coast for young people. Then later in life I'd retire in AZ.
There are no boogie boards in the desert sand.

LA's a place for fun when you are young. If you manage to make a go of it and can afford the homes chances are you will stay. When you decide to buy a home later on and you still haven't made it in LA you could move on to the Phoenix area.

What are your reasons for moving? What are your goals? Both Phoenix and Long Beach are two very different communities. What made you decide on those two places?

I was just wondering if you all of a sudden are 2 years younger now than you were in January in another post. If you are still looking for the same things when you were 20 in January, you may want to stick with Long Beach. Although I would try West Hollywood.
