I want to live somewhere where the light pollution doesn't affect the desert starry nights. We are all outdoor enthusiasts (and glad that the ocean is still just a road trip away). In addition to horse-back riding trails.. how about hiking? I've heard the lakes can get pretty crowded. I have relatives who live on the eastern side of Phoenix. My cousin lives in Queen Creek and another in Gilbert. I remember when that was considered country living. Is the Phoenix urban sprawl all the way out to Goodyear. My daughters are 3 and 7 and so I will need to find a good school. We are actually coming from one of the better school districts in California. Any info would be great.
In my opinion you will find the Surprise is better for your needs, Hiking the white tanks are great, most the schools are not older than 6 years old. There are lots more horse properties to choose from than goodyear, Lake pleasent is only about 25 miles and it is huge and lots of great hiking around there too.

I have to also agree with ibarrio regarding congestion in Surprise. We fought the Sacramento traffic for 15 years and I would take our freeways and cities here any day.

Innovative development wins OK in Surprise

Quote:
A housing development slated to go up in Surprise's northernmost reaches would be one of the city's first communities to include equestrian trails in its design.

Vistas Montanas is a community of 430 single-family homes that would span 180 acres, roughly bounded by 171st and 179th avenues to the east and west, and Dixileta and Peak View drives to the north and south.
