Default Phoenix GI's saving of dog spurs broader rescue effort

Sgt. Edward Watson, 26, left Phoenix and went to Iraq.

He saw things on the battlefield he never thought he would see. He did things he never thought he would have to do.

That may be why Charlie became so important to Watson

I love these stories. I saw another young soldier that tried to bring his little lab mix home and even hired a sub contractor to ship her here when he left Iraq. The contractor took the money and gave his dog away. Took this young man 48 days to track the dog down and she is now home with him in the USA. I think he wrote a book, 48 days to kandahar (?). The SPCA has a program that is helping our troops bring their pets back. Makes me cry.
