Commuting to Maricopa
I know it sounds strange, but I am actually going to be commuting INTO Maricopa city for a job instead of out of Maricopa. I know most people have to leave Maricopa to work, but I will be working at a school there. I would love to live there too, but there are no apartments there. I am going to be living in Casa Grande and driving to Maricopa every day. Can anyone tell me how the commut will be? How long? How much trafic? ect...

Just drove this a couple weeks ago. If you take the Casa Grande-Maricopa highway (the back road along the railroad tracks, depending on exactly where in CG to where in Maricopa, Id say less than 30 mins each way. Much faster if you are on the northern end of CG and the Southwestern parts of Maricopa.
I ll be joining you in CG soon! Made my offer on house yesterday!

Congrates on the house! Where are you moving from? I'll be coming from Illinois. No more snow for me!!!!
That is pretty much what I was expecting as far as the comute goes.
I will be comming down the first week in May to find an apartment and do a little investigating of the area.

Well, dont have it yet (just made offer today), but if not this one, as you ve probably been reading there are about a million for sale, so there will be another.....
But this one is in McCartney Ranch near Rodeo and Trekkel roads. North side of town. Moving from So Cal.
I know others will say CG is too far away, but they really do have just about everything now with the new big mall opened and more stuff being built everywhere you look. Things may have slowed down as far as growth for a little while, but there is still lots of residential and commercial construction going on all over.
Im lucky I have a brother and sister n law in town already (firefighter and teacher), another brother up in Mesa, and my mom will be retiring at one of the senior complexes in CG this summer so we ll have quite a family critical mass in the area, although still got other bros (6 boys in our family) scattered around....
Like I said, that back road is a two laner right now and probably will be for awhile, but no stop lights so it moves along pretty good.

Like I said before, there are no apartments in Maricopa, but there are a TON of practically brand new homes available for rent (and for cheap too-- since Maricopa is such as far flung location, inconvenient to most people who have to work in the main Phoenix metro area), as so many of those homes were bought by investors-- finding a place to live there should be no big deal. With a few people renting a house, your share of the rent would probably be much less than renting an apartment. If you really want to live in Maricopa, that's what I'd suggest; no need to live in Casa Grande unless you just really want to live in CG for some reason.
