Default diversity, diversity, diversity

Well I have to disagree with all but the positive comment. I own a home in the Coronado historic district and lived about a mile from banner. I love the neighborhood and while there is crime on the outskirts, most of the historic districts have very active neighborhood watch systems and you actually know your neighbors and look out for one another. I moved to the area from Arrowhead. It really depends on what kind of place you like to live in. When in Arrowhead, I often drove into the wrong driveway because the homes are all so similar. My car was broken into 3 times, had things stolen from the garage, etc. I've been in Coronado for 8 years and NEVER had a single incident. I now live in Encanto and I would never leave downtown. The diverse population and abundance of culture and nightlife (yes nightlife) is a variety you won't find anywhere else in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Crime is every where nowadays. Also, every weekend I ride my bike to the downtown public market and restaurants. I feel quite safe. I had surgery 4/08 at Banner and the staff was outstanding!

Varies. The area Good Sam is in is not the safest, but there are neighborhoods nearby that are safe - I don't think the historic districts are nearly as unsafe as people are making out. Crime's dropped a lot in Phoenix, and a lot of Central Avenue has been rebuilt.

My husband had a CABG only cost us $200. I would recommend working there but do be very careful. Try to buddy up with someone for the drive and walking in. My daughters husband was involved with crystal meth. One of his main supply houses was next to a park just north and I think east of the hospital. Just BE AWARE and careful of surroundings.
Yep, there's a couple of parks in the vicinity that are essentially hobo jungles, with a lot of drug traffic and mentally ill people camping out. During the daytime, it's not such a bad area, there is the central branch of the library and an art museum and a couple of schools nearby, plus a lot of medical centers and government offices, so there's a lot of foot traffic and if you're not a pedestrian, its generally safe. After dark it gets a little dicey, although I think hospital employees have secured parking. Depending on how busy they are, the security personnel may be willing to walk you out to the parking lot.

I probably shouldn't mention this, but Winnie Ruth Judd, the "Trunk Murdereress" of the 1920s used to work across the street.

I work at Good Sam. Great hospital but you really have to be aware when leaving the building at night. Most of the "stuff" is car breakins but their are some sketchy people hanging around the area. But the security around here is very visible. And these cop wanna be guys/gals are really into their jobs. much more then the cops who generally look disinterested driving around the city.

I've been here 10 years never heard of a person being hurt around here.
