Jewish Paradise Valley
We are moving to Arizona from the midwest and my husband, being Jewish, would like to know where the jewish communities are. We know North Phoenix, but were wondering if there is a big Jewish population near Paradise Valley, and if so, what are they like?

That's a loaded question, don't you think? Can someone actually post "well, the Jews in Paradise Valley are like this...." That would reek of racism!!

They're similar to the Christians living there, except they tend to favor the Old Testament version of the bible, while the Christians generally gravitate towards the New Testament.
That help?

When I said what are they, like I meant are they an orthodox community, reform, etc. I also meant are they friendly towards new-comers in the community.

Take a look at north Scottsdale as well.
I may not be 'Jewish'; but I suspect that most Jews would live pretty close to a synagogue for practical reasons
Google then MapQuest 'synagogues/temples' and go from there.

Easy there; I saw nothing 'racist' about the woman's question------especially her stating that her hubby is of the Jewish faith.

Take a look at the Scottsdale and Shea area. That is called the Jewish Quarter. Scottsdale rd and Sweetwater is where the new JCC is located. Most Jews are reform here in the valley. More Conservatives go to the JCC, where you will be able to find out if they go to synagogue or a private house.
I am reform. PM me for more details if you would like.
Schools where most of the students are either Jewish or half Jewish (which is the norm here) are Desert Mountain, Chaparral, and well, that's about it! LOL

We don't have isolated communites here (like Chinatown, etc). It would be a good idea to check with local synagogues.
