Default Retirement community "in town"?

Is there such a thing as an upscale retirement community right in Scottsdale? Somewhere which goes through continuing care, and where they can walk to get coffee, go to restaurants, etc. Anywhere more than about 1/2 mile from shops/amenities is too far. Golf, etc. not important--being IN the community is as the people I'm asking for are more urban folks and don't want to be set off in a retirement community where they'd have to drive and/or take a shuttle bus to get a good meal outside the retirement community.

Trying to move your post up a bit so hopefully some posters respond. I live near north Scottsdale but I am not familiar with any "retirement" communities. Assuming you mean like "various grades of assisted living" as opposed to just a nice community to retire to with nearby amenities?

Coincidentally saw this. Appears one is on slate for 2011 right next to Scottsdale Princess Resort.
