Cleveland is a completely different scenario than Phoenix as far as types of people and neighborhoods. Take the illegal immigration issue, for example. That has become a nationwide problem, but it's far more of a concern here in Arizona than in Ohio. Most of the ghettos or lower rent districts in the Phoenix area are highly populated by Latinos who are either illegal, non English speaking, or both. Nothing racial intended, but those areas always have & always will have higher rates of crime. These are simply the facts.
It all comes down to the fact that a home is an investment ... and the cheaper you go, the lower class the neighborhood will generally be. If you're willing to spend more for a home in a nicer area, it may hurt a little financially ... but you will generally get more bang for your buck and be much more satisfied (and safe) in the long run. If it were me, I'd rather pay more to live in a more "exclusive" area so I won't have to worry as much about drive by shootings, gangs, theft, crack houses, meth labs, graffiti, and the like.

Illegals or no illegals, Cleveland ghettos are way worse and uglier than Phoenix ghettos. Its not even close. Heck some of the so-called "ghettos" in Phoenix look like decent places to live if they werent full of illegals.

That's the sucky part, though. It's easier here to get tricked by initial appearances. I like my ghettos to stand out and be distinguishable.

So, you are saying people should start referring to them as "guetos"?
I believe that would make it more 'distinguishable"....

Question about area
Apartments for Rent in Chandler Arizona - Availability - Los Arboles
I came across this apartment and was wondering what people thought about the area?
Another thing what costs do I need to factor when coming up with a total rent?
I have read a few things about a rental tax on this board but have not seen an actual number.
Thanks

That's a good idea. The neighborhoods could be called Gueto-XXXXX. That way, people shopping for non-guetos can steer clear, while others can easily find like-minded neighbors.

When your deposit is almost as high as your rent payment... ($500/$759)
I would tend to think there is a problem with the area/apartment.
Plus I was told stay away from downtown/west chandler area.
My girlfriend and I have found some really nice apts in south chandler/ocotillo area...85248 zip....check that area out. I heard it is safe.
