I really want to move to Arizona, looking at the Phoenix area. I've been there a couple times and really like it. My background consists of; operating heavy equipment in mostly agricultural settings and some construction most of my life, I was a welder/metal fabricator for about 6-7 years and have spent the last year and a half driving trucks ( I have my class a).. I really want to get back into equipment full time.*

My question is this, do you think I'll have a hard time finding work? Like I said I have skills and experience in multiple areas but I really wanna be in equipment. I'm not afraid of a long day. Are there companies that you'd reccomend I check out?*

I do feel like this is an easy "yes you'll find work" given the amount of building going on, I guess I'm just looking for that last push.
Thanks

Trucking jobs pay at the lower end of range for USA..and quite a few others, too. Always some heavy equipment work going on, but never seen a big training or hiring push for them...lots of overflow from California. Mining is still at low levels, historically. School bus drivers start at 19 in the DC area..even 40 miles out, but more like 14 in PHX...and total weasels on benefits.

There's a big demand for industrial maintenance, a quick cert or 2 year degree from a community college and you'll be set for many years.

Trucking will soon be automated. Get out of that.

With a CDL and experience you should be able to quickly find a job. My friend just got his and with no experience got hired right away making about 20 bucks an hour. Not a great wage, but enough to live comfortably here depending on your lifestyle.

I agree that over the road trucking will be automated, but there will still be many needs for cdl drivers in the construction industry.

I understand automation will definitely take some work away (in more fields than just trucking) but it's hard to replace city drivers.. otr drivers mainly on the highway on the other hand, that's a possibility unfortunately..

In any case I really dont care to drive as much as i want to get back into equipment, wheel loaders, excavators, backhoes ect..

What about construction or carpentry? They will always need work in those fields, the retirees depend on that and will keep moving here.
