I was thinking, this month has been pretty cold for February. Does anyone think it has been the coldest February in years? February 2015 and 2016 were well warmer than average, February 2017 was slightly warmer than average, and February 2018 was about average. However, it seems like this month has been cooler than average. Could this be the coldest Feburary in years? In fact it seems like Feburary has actually mostly been colder than January.

I've got pix of a February storm a few years ago, and there was so much hail that it looked like snow all over the place. I think it's more unusual because we're still having overnight dips in the 30s.

The whole winter has been cold. If the forecasts bear out, it's not going to get any better. On the plus side, the watersheds are soaked and the reservoirs are filled or filling. The Colorado is at about 130% of average with big storms still in the pipeline. So, while its bad for tourists that I have little love for anyway, it is great for our water supplies.

I know TWC is expecting March-May to be cooler than average.

Interestingly many were expecting the winter here to be warmer than average in the early forecasts, including the Farmer's Almanac, the NWS, and TWC. The lone exception was the Old Farmer's Almanac, and it looks like they got it right.

It occurred to me that, with all the climate change, winter shifted, so that we're experiencing January weather.

I love it but winter have been really cold here. I often have the heater on when I'm home.

In 2012 we were in Tucson for statehood centennial day, which is Valentine's Day, and while eating lunch at a foothills restaurant, it snowed on us. Was glad I still had my Chicago winter coat with me. That was a cold February.

When it's cold in the west, it's generally warm in the east, and vice versa. Here, Februrary has been almost 9 degrees warmer than the 1980-2010 norm, and that is a considerable difference. You guys in the SW have probably been about that much below normal.
