That apt was poorly insulated. Then since August 2007 my 2 br 2 bath- about 1100 sq ft is already $80 in the off season with no AC or heat. I'm in trouble this summer. I can't wait to buy a house!!!!!
Utility (and oil) companies are bloodsuckers but I think SRP is the lesser of the available evils.

Im wondering how hot it will get before i decide to turn on my money burner.

Looks like next week the temps will start to hit the 90's, im sure i wont be able to take it anymore once it gets that hot.
Yep mine has been on for over a month, I live with polar bears and I walk around the house with a sweater.

The AC unit is really old and the air only blows strong through the hallway, not into the rooms. Which translates into a lot of wasted cash flowing straight into SRP's coffers!

LOL, you and I are so alike when it comes to this.

I cannot handle the heat very well and it's driving me crazy! I don't usually have the AC on during the day too much right now, however, I DO use it to sleep every night now. I keep it at 70 degrees during the night, and then I turn it off during the day. Which seems to keepp uosealaaesantemperatue all day.

I usually flip it on to cool off the house for a few minutes if the sun is blazing and one of my rooms is too hot. But like I said, a "few" minutes and then off it goes.

However, when it starts getting into the 90's the da*n thing will be burning night and day. My house will be dark as a cave and I'll be going into vampire mode soon.

If what the weatherman says is true, we should be looking at high 90's this weekend!

Wow! My sympathies, amiga. Thank goodness at least I only work with polar bears. After freezing to death all day, though, I have to blast the heat at home, which isn't helping with the bills. I don't know about Phoenix, but Tucson is in "global freezing" IMO. Just went out for a walk wearing a heavy sweater AND a coat! It's very windy, too. WTH... it's almost mid-April.

High Winter gas bills? How cold did it get in Phoenix this past Winter? Is your home all gas or a mix of gas and electric? Just wondering!

Yes I know the feeling, it's always cold at work too. I can't get a break.

No I have not turn on the air and I've had the heat off for over a month+. I'm full SRP avg payment is $125. In the winter I run the heat at 72 in the summer 78 with occasion to take it to 76 if the heat is at the max. For anyone moving here check out that the home and energy efficient window and insulation. That is your biggest saver on electric along with the newer appliances.

No. I ripped the thermostat off the wall. I refuse to turn it on until the dogs are panting.

This is NOT Florida. Our winters here are quite cold here. It may not snow in Phoenix, but it sure feels like it will much of the winter.

Default A/C finally kicked on!

My A/C finally kicked on this afternoon!

We avoided the A/C being turned on until this afternoon. We've had the front screen door open late evening and overnight (it deadbolts and has designer offset steel bars). Along with the blower fan cycling every hour to circulate air in our 2100 square foot house, the outside air kept things cool enough in our single level home (we close the screen door around 11AM).

But today I forgot to close the screen door...

It was open until a few minutes ago... .

I let too much warm air inside the house, noe the A/C is on!
