Default Anyone turn on their AC yet?

Anyone turn on your AC yet? I know its not summer time yet and the temps are still low compared to summer. My house has got up as high at 82 degrees upstairs according to the thermostat but i have not turned on my AC yet. Its been very comfortable with a ceiling fan so far.

Im wondering how hot it will get before i decide to turn on my money burner.

Looks like next week the temps will start to hit the 90's, im sure i wont be able to take it anymore once it gets that hot.

Heck no. I reside under the SRP monopoly and will give them as few of my dollars as possible. Both they and APS are hiking fees, claiming it is to encourage conservation - but if you read their actual FCC filings, it's to bolster compensation and bonus plans for executives and employees.

Yes... I've definitely had the use the AC in my apartment. It's not going on constantly, just about 2-3 times each hour. Then again, the apartment building I live in is extremely cheapily constucted, with paper thin walls and single-pane windows. The AC unit is really old and the air only blows strong through the hallway, not into the rooms. Which translates into a lot of wasted cash flowing straight into SRP's coffers!

I leave my house at 80. So it has kicked on. I have 6 inch walls, in this house, but where I just moved, the APS rates are 3o percent higher than Phoenix APS rates, and I used to have srp. So I have this new energy efficient home, and the bill was the same as my old 70's home, that lacked insulation or decent windows, and air escaped from the doors because of what they charge here. Nuts. and they just proposed to raise it another 9 percent and is being approved. Just not right.

I'm not turning it on yet. I can't bear to have my electric bill go up, I have to recover from the high gas bills from the winter!

I live in Surprise and have APS =( It’s a brand new house. I paid for all the extra energy efficient features. Thicker walls with more insulation and extra insulation in the ceiling plus some foil stuff on the roof called tech shield. Also have compact fluorescent bulbs in every light socket.

My last power bill was $130 but I have a pool pump running 8 hours in the evening and 2 computers running 24/7. We cook allot and its all electricity.

I’m hoping the bill doesn’t go over $350 in the summer.

I have also thought about buying low wattage fans to place in the attic to blow the heat out the little vents on either side of the roof with some kind of a sensor to turn on only when its at a certian temp.

Anyone ever try that before? Think it will make a difference?
