They screw up our traffic out this way twice a year for NASCAR now. I went a couple years ago but the fumes from generators and the dust were unbearable in the RV area and I never went again. Lots of people go though, over 100,000 they say. The racing is a complete bore so I guess it's the partying, beer, and the "scenery" that draws them.

We'll be enjoying the Glendale Jazz & Blues fest this weekend.

Get out before dark though.

It's exciting to me, I guess you either love it or hate it. Sorry to hear it messes up the traffic. So do the residents resent the race more than they appreciate it being there?

My husband loves it; he unfortunately is unable to go this weekend. However, one of our neighbors is going to the race, and he is soooooo glad NASCAR has a track here.

I don't think residents care too much one way or the other. It only gets you if you forget and leave or come home during the rush. The people crowd the Walmart and food stores pretty badly and there are long lines, but it's only for a couple days. The other thing that is pretty amazing is that the RVs start to come in two or three weeks before the race. They park them along the road leading to PIR and the line stretches for miles before the race gates open and let them in. Lots of people just camp out along the road. That does seem like fun somehow. At the race grounds, there are hundreds and hundreds of RVs. It's a regular city; they even have a food store set up there by Basha's supermarkets. There are t-shirt and souvenir and ticket stands along all the roads and at the race too. It's an amazing event, really.

If you are going, be aware of the constuction on on I-10 in that area. Traffic slows down to a bottle neck in that area of the freeway.
