I have decided to start my search to a less humid more of a retirement location. Does mesa Arizona have many retirees?

It has some but it's not known as a retirement area, you'll find more the further East you go along US 60 but generally speaking it's more of a family city imo. You can find 55+ neighborhoods in Mesa but in general it's not what the town is known for. On an average basis it is on the young side in terms of at 36 years old, Apache Junction a bit further East from Mesa on the other hand has an average of 52, well above the state average. Sun City the dedicated retirement community on the west side has an average of 75 and Sun Lakes a dedicated retirement community in the East valley has an average of 73, and Carefree to the North averages 64 years of age. Those are probably the higher ends of retirement areas of the metro.

To give you a lay of the land a bit, Tempe (west of Mesa) is the youngest city in the metro, home to ASU, and averages 29. Phoenix is around 34 and Scottsdale 47.

I would add Fountain Hills to the list, pricey but beautiful in a disneyish kind of way.
