@yukon
Yes I prefer to work a later shift and not drive so much, that's why I'm putting in for a 4-10 schedule if they have it. If not I can work a daily 10-6:30.
Traffic is 1 reason but it's my preference anyway. I'm not much of an early riser.

Thank you everyone for all the tips.
I did a test drive to where I'm interviewing and it's not so bad if I go east on 202.
The commute is kind of long but it's freeway most of the way, not so many traffic lights to deal with.

Have you ever looked at running the 51 up to the 101 and taking that around and down? Seems counterintuitive, but Maps often shows that route a few minutes quicker.

I'm not going way out of my way just to get there a few minutes quicker.
I think the 202 east to 101 south is my best bet but that could change.

Use an app like Waze which will show you real time traffic and give you the best routing at the time. It may vary from day to day depending on accidents / congestion.

Apps like Waze / Google Maps helps all of us as people find better routes to take and ease overall congestion for everyone.

I would head down the 51 to the 202 to the 101, although the 51 sb can get pretty backed up in the mornings. If that's the case you could always head down 24th st to get on the 202. Once you hit the 202 you're golden as you will be going against traffic. This really shouldn't be a bad commute for you you just have to figure out you're fastest route to the 202.

Yes, that would be ridiculous, and you would have a longer drive going north and then south again. You'd be using more gas, and that just means more trips to the pump! Commuting on the 51 to the 202 and the 101 would probably be the best way to go ... and if you get the schedule you're asking for, it would be a little less traffic. Despite what some have claimed, traffic here is not light, but there are times of the day when it's not as congested.

I found out orientation and training on this new job will be an 8-5 schedule.
Traffic sucks that time of day but if I get the later work schedule I want after training the traffic shouldn't be as thick.

Maybe on the 8-5 I can Lyft or Uber it to work and leave my car at home.
Let someone else deal with the traffic.
