I think you've just described the entire West. In general we're a bit more tolerant and accepting and think more of "do your own thing" than people in the South and Northeast.

There you go again. I've been reading this thread and I haven't seen a single case of anybody insulting you. There have been some rather acerbic observations about you and I'm sure you didn't enjoy reading them, but I believe you fully deserve every criticism you've received.

You seem to believe you're smarter than everybody, yet you don't understand people well enough to get along with them without offending them. When you characterize yourself as being smarter than the rest of us, you're characterizing us as being dumber than you. Whether it's true or not you're certainly not being diplomatic.

You say that you don't care if people like you. Once again you're dropping clues as to what the real problem is. Maybe if you cared about people you might be a bit more empathetic and sympathetic. Maybe your real problem is that you project an aura of hostility and arrogance.

You also seem to not understand that respect is not given; it is earned. You're all ready to show disrespect to everybody now. Do you really think that's going to gain you anything except more negative reaction from the people around you?

It seems to me that the biggest problem with the people around you is you yourself. If your conduct in this forum is any indication of how you behave in real life, then you've got an attitude problem and you won't ever get along with people until you have an attitude adjustment.

For the record, my cousin in Tempe is a White man married to a Black woman with biracial children and I've never heard any complaints about prejudice or intolerance from their family. They've since divorced but not for reasons of race. I don't believe your accusations of racial prejudice.

People of education and intelligence just naturally write things that are grammatically correct. To be honest, I'm rather enjoying the challenge of making an honest attempt to help a rather unlikable person. It would be too easy to just blow him off and return the insults and hostility and turn this into another of those troll vs. "feeding the troll" discussions, which wouldn't do anybody any good.

And also, I rather enjoy writing, composition and debate, and I've got plenty of spare time being I'm between jobs and retirement and not a lot else to do today. 'Work' is a four letter word.

I have no tolerance for threats, even vague threats directed at the entire metropolitan area. Gangbangers, lowlifes and sociopaths like Charles Whitman "demand" respect through violence or threats and intimidation. I am not saying the OP falls into one of these categories, but it isn't even an issue for average people with a sense of self worth, people who realize the world doesn't revolve around them. Most people are content with simply being treated fairly by others. As Lovehound, Artliquide and others have stated, RESPECT is EARNED. Demanding it only guarantees you won't get it. I have more respect for what my dogs leave in the yard than I do for anyone who would try to intimidate or threaten me.
