If You're going to work at Luke AFB, the closest commutes would be from Goodyear, Litchfield Park, Avondale, Glendale (which the AFB is IN), Peoria, and Surprise. Buckeye'd be a bit of a drive.

We have quite a number of Luke personnel living in Estrella Mountain Ranch. It's not as cheap here as Buckeye (300K+), but much prettier with more amenities, better schools. It takes about 30 minutes to get to Luke from here. I think Buckeye might be a little longer because I-10 to Cotton Lane (where you would get off towards Luke) is bumper-to-bumper. It's supposed to get widenend the next year or so. There's new housing in Goodyear near Cotton Lane and I-10 in the mid-250s plus. It would be maybe 15-20 minutes from there to Luke.

Hi, I lived in Buckeye for 2 yrs, and recently moved to Queen Creek. Its not a easy decision because both are growing rapidly, Buckeye is suppose to be much bigger in the next 7-10 yrs. I moved to Queen Creek mainly because its close to Mesa, Tempe, and there is alot more shopping, restraunts, and fast life east of Phoenix. Plus even though housing is comparable.....I have found better prices then in Buckeye. I built in Buckeye, and now I am building new home in QC. One thing I hated about Buckeye is the downtown....they claim it's historic, but honestly its a pig stye. Verrado in Buckeye is great, but very expensive. QC is about 3 yrs ahead of Buckeye as far as development, and retail. I did enjoy being close to Glendale (While in Buckeye), with the new stadium that area is changing fast. I think QC is prettier then Buckeye, and both QC & Buckeye kinda sux as far as traffic into Phoenix and surrounding areas. That said they both have alot in common, and will be changing, and due to influx of population will go through growing pains. Maricopa County is at mercy of being just way to big and complex.....it governs over a million of people. Pinal county is much smaller and easier to deal with..... and crime isn't really that much different from each other, and it isn't close to what problems phx deals with. I agree for the most part of what you already got in response....but personally I like QC better.

Default Buckeye homeowner

Hello,
I bought my first home in Buckeye. I loved it there! Very Quiet and a hop skip and a jump away from a booming community such as Goodyear and Avondale. The Arrowhead Mall is straight highway the entire way. Estrella Falls mall is being built within 10 minutes from Buckeye. I currently live in Germany (Military) but am miss my home in BUCKEYE like you can't imagine! As a matter of a fact, my house is currently for sale or lease. Let me know if you are interested. I knew a couple of people who lived in Queen Creek at Luke AFB, the biggest complaint they had was the travel time to anywhere...
Good luck and seriously let me know if you are interested in renting or buying my house.

Jennifer

If I were working at Luke, I would move to Goodyear. IT IS VERY CLOSE, growing in size and population, and extremely freeway accessible. There are a lot of luxury homes being built in Goodyear. And it's close to the new Cardinal Stadium and a brand new HUGE mall coming in. All of these are great for property values.

I know a builder there offering $50,000 off the price of their homes that will be ready in June...making the final price for a 1400 SF home $166,000! This is EASILY the cheapest thing I have seen in the west valley without going out to Buckeye.

Are you serious?? A million people and larger than Phoenix? That's terrifying!

I've livedi in the Johnson Ranch area of Queen Creek for 2 yrs now. I love the house we got and the price was far better than anywhere. Rush hour is bad getting in and out. They opened up Ellsworth on German to Elliot so getting to the San Tan Frwy is better than ever. Also Ironwood will be opening up more lanes soon to ease all this congestion. I heard Home Depot and a strip mall with Target etc is planned for next year acorss from the Wal mart that just opened up. So it's really becoming a lot more liveable to live in. If you can tough out the commute I think it's worth it. But I've also seen a lot of people leave here after a year and hate it. It all depends what your needs are and what you're willing to put up with. I'm not familiar with the Buckeye area to compare it to except that it's nowhere near here. Hope it helps. Kat

Smile Buckeye

Hi there
My husband and I have lived in Tempe, Chandler, Avondale, Goodyear and now Buckeye (in that order) and we have friends who live in Queen Creek. Honestly, I wouldn't live in QC if you paid me. The traffic in and out is horrible and it feels so far removed from everything. Personally, we feel like Goodyear and Buckeye are both a breath of fresh air. The people are friendly and there seems to be a sense of community here. Interstate 10 has been approved for widening to Verrado Way, so thats another plus for commuters. When you visit try Verrado or Estrella Mtn Ranch communities. I would avoid Sundance in Buckeye but think there are several nice communities on Miller Road. Good Luck and Happy Moving!
