Wrong. The spike was avoidable by moving from shutdown to mandated mitigation measures. We went directly from zero to one hundred and the current situation is proof its failure.

I looked closer. As of June 2nd, the govt said 26,000 deaths but they didn't include 14,000 before May. So 40,000 nursing home death total. I don't know if they lump in "assisted living" with nursing homes. I don't think so which would push the percentage higher (but they are less ill so they are less vulnerable). Even if it is 40,000 for the combined total, we are talking 40% (100K deaths around the 2nd of May).

I find it alarming that the second highest group behind the 65+ year olds is the youngest grouping.

Not me, this is the group putting themselves out there, socializing without masks because they feel invincible. This is also the group working in grocery stores and restaurants. They don't necessarily have the luxury of a work at home job.

Good points and I would fully agree if we were discussing positive cases. Since that group is the second highest in hospitalizations, that seems alarming given how we’ve been told that younger people tend to get milder symptoms.

Note that the groupings do not span the same number of years. 20-44 spans twenty five years. 45-54 only spans ten years, etc.

It would be useful to know the total population in each of the groups.

Good catch! I didn’t pick up on that. How stupid that they would report it like that.

Add this: we'll soon be flooded by refugees from our failed cities like SF, NYC, LA, Chicago etc. SF and NYC already seeing a spike of middle class and wealthy people leaving, which has accelerated again after the riots. How many will come to Phoenix?

We had pieces of trash rioting here too. Maybe Salt Lake City is an alternative.

My brother and his family live in Southern Cal. He works in the entertainment industry and will be out of work until who knows when.

His wife is thinking Virginia would be a nice place to move to and he's thinking Gilbert AZ.

If they sell their home in Cal and with the money the wife inherited a few years back now might be a good time to call it quits and retire. (Kids are grown and out of the house.)
