Oh, man. I am considering moving out that way because DC's really taking its toll on me---don't tell me there are issues with people and friendliness out that way as well!

Overall people here are very nice. There are some asshats and very aggresive drivers, but usually it's a relaxed, friendly vide. It does take a little bit of effort to meet like minded people as we're such a bedroom community. Being so spread out is also a challenge... some of my friends live 25 miles in every direction so it's tougher to throw together a last minute happy hour, etc. Best bet: be outgoing and meet as many people near you as possible while also developing relations through work, friends, family, school, etc.

I noticed some people state about a place being "not friendly" yet those same people will either frown or have a mean face themselves.

People often forget how powerful and important it is to smile and greet others. But I do mean a genuine, friendly smile(), not a tweaker smile() of course.

Nah, I lived in DC and Richmond before. You will love it here, it is very friendly here! Like I've said, you just have to overcome the initial shyness. I think people are embarrassed to admit how lonely and bored they are here but when you speak up first you will find yourself in good company!

This place is so big, there is a place for everyone!

Yes, Personally, I think there are places you could live that people are 5 times as freindly as these people and 5 times more likely to be your friend. I wouldn't come here if I were you your very likely to be disappointed.

Okay, I'll bite. What place has people 5 times as friendly as those in Phx, with the people 5 times more likely to be your friend than those in Phx?

And, if you care to answer...how long have you lived here? Are you making plans to leave? Where do you want to go that is better?

Funny you say that, I have met people at work that I could hang out with but they live too far for last minute get togethers. I guess it would help if I lived closer to my job or found a job closer to home.

I really agree with you and I've been here for over four years. This place is very transient, which does contribute to what you say above.
