I second that TAsha. I think the person who said rent was cheap is the same person who said her house hold income is more than 3 times the amount that I desire to earn. So if someone earns $150,000+ then $1200 is nothing but for use who earn $30,000 paying $1200 is more than half our monthly take home.

But $50,000 to start, might be tough. I never heard of section 8 here. But we do have alot of ACCESS people.
First of all what is ACCESS?

Secondly, what does me going to school for my MS have to do with being on section 8? How do you think I paid for school? ... Anyway, I am not fielding any more questions about the nature of my background and my right to be on section 8. I do not have to defend my self to you or anyone else on here. YOu sound so silly when you said, "I could not figure out why the state is so far in debt, now I know." What do you know exactly. Actually never mind because I'm sure I don't want to hear it.

Why not? America fund everyone else. Isn't that what the war is all about? Making other people more comfortable.

YOu also said you want to start your own business and would like government backing. Well you can have that if you get a grant but most people are to lazy (or uninformed) to do this. You should do some research on Donald Trump. Most of his property and investments are acquired with government grants that he never have to pay back. Why be mad at people for using the services provided? I am not cheating the system I am living within all guidelines. So look into getting a grant and you can fund your business with government money too.

Yes section 8 is closed in most areas. But this does not apply to me since I already have section 8. This only applies to someone who is trying to get it. So I can transfer in but can't apply for a new section 8 voucher.

sigh* you just don't get it. Oh well... I am just very thankful that I have the ethic that I do. I enjoy a very charmed life because of it. I wish you the best of luck and certainly hope that you find success.

BTW, I think the average american family income is around about 30k something and I assume the majority have a couple kids...sooo is the average american family on welfare????

There is something really wrong with you people! Get off this woman's back and find someone else to pick on! All of you up on your high horses act like she is ripping off the system or something. If this voucher was presented to you in a time of need and allowed you to further your education in order to help provide a better future for your children, you'd do the same dang thing! I know because I did, and it took me two years to get on my feet. I also got food stamps....now what???? I paid taxes from the time I was 16 and I was able to get through a tech school. Now Im married and embarking on a new journey into nursing school.

StartToday, let me apologize on behalf of us Arizonans(and Californians) we are not all HATERS. Im happy you were able to get the assistance you needed to help you and your family. I hope your experience in coming to AZ beats what you have experienced here on this forum. I think you will be happy. My husband is from Chicago and he loves it here!

Consider contacting landlords personally and see if they'd like to get on the program if they are not. People may be desperate to rent their homes and may jump on board.

Good luck!

It's really a shame that you're so judgemental. This individual said explicity in her initial post not to launch into some diatribe about your personal feelings about public assistance.

I guess you expect a round of applause because you are fortunate enough not to have to get by with public assistance. Good for you.

I think what posters are saying is the OP has an average income and doesn't need public assistance. She seems rather proud of herself that she has learned to "work the system" and thinks everyone else should do this too. What she fails to realize is that there are a finite amount of funds for these programs and someone who is really in need of assistance will have to wait. A person with a MS degree has all the tools needed to land a high paying job. Secion 8 is not taking any new applications because they are using funds to take care of undeserving people like you. As a tax payer, I find this rather disturbing.

Also if your husband is disabled he is or soon will be collecting a monthly SSD check. Disabled people can work as well, they just can't earn over a certain amount of money each quarter. Are you including his income when you state you're earning 30K a year?

Why do you care? She is a tax paying citizen as well. I can tell you there are 10 times more people abusing the system, lying about their income and not doing anything to better themselves. These people literally decide to keep this voucher forever, never planning to give it up....there is something wrong with you people that judge her and really do not know her and her situation.
GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing wrong with me, I don't need a crutch and neither does she. Just because "there are 10 times more people abusing the system" does that make it right in your eyes? She came on this forum and boasted about how she enjoys working the system. If she were my neighbor I'd report her. I have no admiration for people who lack ethics and then have the nerve to boast about it on a public forum.
