Cinncy vs Phoenix area
Hello everyone. My hubby wants to move to Cincinnati and I want to move to the Phoenix area. We are living in Ohio now and he is worried mostly about the cost of moving all the way out there. I know I am ready for some heat and some sun which Ohio seems to be lacking. What are some tips to save on moving across the country and also has anyone moved there but there spouse did not? How did you convince them and do they like it? Thanks a bunch.

Have you visited there? We live in Dayton but are planning retirement in the Phx area. I always knew I wanted to retire in AZ but my wife had never been. I took her out there a few years back and she was sold instantly. Now she can't wait. But the heat is not for everyone. Some people prefer the bitter, cold, frozen wasteland that is Ohio..
so, my advice is to take a trip out there. As for the moving part, we are planning on renting a uhaul to move as much ourselves as we can.

Yeah make sure you've been down first... there's so much about Arizona that is an aquired.. err taste.
Thankfully i've aquired that taste when I visited, my brother moved down there last week and bought a place in Vistancia.
I'm moving down there with my father in June or July.

Vistancia is wonderful Captain Bill is the resident expert.
If I could have had some family members move here I would have figured out someway to handle the heat. But alas, they won't move from the east coast.
Lucky you, to have your family move here too, what a blessing!

As someone who has lived in Cincinnati 34 years and has visited the Phoenix area about half a dozen times, I would personally say it's a no-brainer, Phoenix over Cincy. However, as the residents will tell you, the heat can be an "acquired taste". Myself, I prefer the heat to the cold, desolate, and grey weather in Ohio as well as its unpredictability.

Yeah! Please tell your brother welcome to the "Vistancia family" from us. When you say you're "moving down there", do you mean Vistancia too?

Like Sablebaby said, Capt Bill's home is Val Vista Lakes.
MotleyCrew and I are the resident experts for Vistancia. There are some other Vistancia residents on City-Data too, but they don't post as often so unfortunately I can't remember their "CD names" right now.

Zanthras,
That's cool. I can not stand this cold weather. It gets deep into my bones. How much does a u-haul cost?
