I say GOOD FOR HIM. What was it I heard he made them listen in piped over the speakers? Something I thought at the time that would be worse punishment then everything else he does to them.

Another cost is the "embarassment" you would have to go through with friends and family, having the public watch you blow into your interlock system, etc etc. The shame of it all...

I think that part is hysterical that you can go online and watch them get booked. They should do that EVERYWHERE.

Yes, a DUI can easily get to over $10k. I have some personal experience here from long ago in another state. I got off as easily as one ever could and it was still every penny of $5k and that was with the cops not towing my car, telling the prosecutor to cut me a good deal, the whole thing not going to my license or home state DMV and my insurance never getting wind of it. Again, it was still $5k. Had my insurance gotten wind of it, I could have figured on $3500 a year for three years just for insurance, add another $1k a year for SR-22 with DMV and who knows what else. When you see those signs that read, "DUI - You can't afford it.", believe me, they ain't kidding. That said, the .08 limit is ridiculous. I can drive better at .08 than someone at .00 who has a cell phone to their ear, doesn't know what a turn signal is, texts while driving, etc. DUI is a political crime more than anything else. I see near-death situations out there almost every day committed by stone cold sober drivers who don't get in any trouble for it.

Wow, and this state is harsher than CA. So you must be right.

No, actually they didn't.

Special Report: Health and death behind bars

Mary K. Reinhart, Tribune

More than 60 Maricopa County jail inmates have died since 2004, many from illnesses that would be treatable in normal medical settings.

The deaths and other health complaints, most of which go unnoticed by the general public and the media, have raised concerns about access to treatment and growing legal liability to county taxpayers. At the same time, county administrators refuse to release documents in support of their claims that conditions have improved or jail consultants are allowed to tour the jails.
I don't say things that are not true.

That was an interesting article. A good number of the deaths were from suicide. I wonder what the numbers look like in other parts of the country??

The article references healthcare issues - not actions by the Sheriff. And many of those alleged issues are being disputed.

And, futhermore, you don't like it here so you are not in the best position to comment either.
