Here is a prime example. When asked if he/she had ever been to Verrado, the east side poster said no. So, to make comments like "stay away" from any area (any quadrant of a city or city itself) when one hasn't seen it is wrong. Besides Verrado, there are many nice areas on the west side: Estrella, Pebble Creek, Palm Valley, Litchfield Park, Copper Canyon Ranch, Cortessa, Greer Ranch, Marley Park, Tartesso, Festival, Sun City Grand, Sun City West, Arizona Traditions, Desert Oasis, Westbrook, Fletcher Heights, Sierra Verde, Reserve at Eagle Heights, Blackstone, Trilogy, Vistancia, Arrowhead, Pleasant Valley, Westwing, Sonoran Mountain Ranch, Terramar, etc, etc, etc. The list goes on and on. I listed more than 2 or 3 to show that there isn't just one or two nice areas on the west side. There are loads to choose from in the west valley and all around Phoenix, so it just takes time to find your place to call "home".

Boy, I have to admit I HATE these threads. They ALWAYS turn into a flame war and it's plain stupid. There are good and bad areas on both sides of town. Get over it.

I want to remind everyone to STAY ON TOPIC and get rid of the attitudes.

Thank you - you point out some very wonderful areas of the West and Northwest vally. I particularly like Verrado and Trilogy - But, that is your point I believe - there are so many wonderful areas - all over the valley, that one can have a ball searching -

THAT I agree with.

Speaking for myself: I prefer central Phx from basically Osborn up to Dunlop; not the best perhaps but certainly not exactly 'ghetto'

It took us several trips over here to visit and about a year of internet searching to find our spot. We did find some nice places over on the east side, the south side, and the west side. I see the entire state as interesting and we fell in love with Prescott. I hope to find some property there for our last house. My advice is to ignore the east vs west war and come on over and take a look around.

Have a wonderful day.
Hi Joy, oh that's sweet. I was actually a NW sider at one time and enjoyed it very much. I wouldn't mind moving up that way at all. It's my husbands mom that is in Mesa. My mom was in Mesa but passed away lasy July

I work in N Scottsdale and I spend a lot of time crusing around the different neighborhoods and it all looks the same to me whether it be Ahwatukee or Mesa or where ever. It all looks the same but comes with a higher price tag.

VanCanFan is on a distinguished road
As someone who just spent a week looking around the Phoenix area at properties for sale and stuff I must admit I liked the east side quite a bit better. Why? Not nearly as much industry, alot less large trucks on the road. While both areas had good and bad parts I would say the west had alot more areas that I didnt care for. That being said, Im looking for a nice area to spend some time in the winter, and golf.. Maybe if I had to work and commute I might have alot different opinion.

I live in Gold Canyon (east of mesa) and love it. I have virtually no commute to work, live in a community where you can see all the stars at night and hear the coyotes and the owls call. There is pristine desert all around us, I have views of the Superstition mountain range out my living room window, and live in a safe, gated community. Major shopping centers are just minutes away at Signal Butte or Power Rd and US 60. It only takes 45 minutes to get to Sky Harbor from where we live. Its almost perfect.

You're East of Apache Junction and I guess Mesa. But AJ is your neighbor. Not Mesa. I see all these subdivisions mentioned, not a specific town. And yes Gold Canyon is not incorporated, you live in the area called Gold Canyon in a subdivision and use all of Apache Junction's services.

And you live on a 5000 sq foot lot etc, try horse property at the foot of the mountain. Much better, yet I live in Apache Junction. Cracks me up you say you live east of Mesa. Get over yourself, really. Are you that scared it has to be gated? Well actually, you're right to be scared, Gold Canyon has alot of property crime. And domestic violence from all the foreclosures, that place will be a ghost town soon. I bet you've lived there less than 5 years, I've been here 20 years, you people have ruined the Far East Valley. Wanna be Scottsdale. What a joke.
