Rawhide Kid is on a distinguished road
Default Scott Libby and Barbara Robey, Verrado elem schools - good or bad?

Greatschools.net ranks these two schools poorly 4 and 5 out of 10 compared to 7's and higher in the Litchfield Park area. We are wanting to move out that direction, but are concerned about these two schools. The Jr and high schools seem to do much better, but are children are elem age.

Anyone have kids at these schools? Any comments?

What about Verrado elem and other schools...ok?

thx!

all in all the litchfield ESD is very good - i'd say the top 3 in the district would be Litchfield Elementary, Palm Valley & Verrado - the student populations are varrying a bit - they are building a new school on the eastern edges of the district and schools like dreaming summit can get a little crowded - I know verrado is going to have some temp space built into their campus to take on some of this flow

the district is pretty well run and the resources are good - you can find good teachers and success at all of them - some have more active PTOs and communities - teachers tend to stick with these schools and student populations

the closer you are to Luke and the el mirage area generally the lower performing schools will be - that would account for barbara robey & dreaming summit

Scott Libby is in an area that is still developing it's identity as far as population - a mix of newer developments, older ranch type homes, a prison, the swapmeet, etc are all within their boundaries

i personally think a kid can have success with the right support anywhere in the district - the school variation would probably come more on the demographics that are going into that school

Which is a better elementary school...Verrado or Estrella Mountain Elementary? Also why is it that verrado is in the city of Buckeye yet included in Goodyears elementray district (Litchfield) while Estrella Mountain Ranch located in Goodyear schools are in a different school district liberty)???? I dont understand this. Back east your kid went to school in the CITY distrcit you lived in i.e.: All Goodyear schools would be in the GOODYEAR school district. Seems like Estrella Mountain Ranchers are isolated from the rest of the city of goodyear while Verrado is included and they are not even in Goodyear... I just dont get it.

because a lot of goodyear schools are in the litchfield district

for goodyear it's basically if you are south of the 10 or north of the 10 to determine what elementary school district you would be in

pretty much everything north of the 10 would be in the litchfield ESD

pretty much everything south would be in the avondale ESD

unless you are in the liberty ESD, which would be either the estrella or westar schools (which are coupled with a pair of schools in buckeye)

you see, it's all really simple

$$$ plays into a lot of this ..... people aren't going to spend big dollars to live in verrado and send their kids to buckeye schools

also a lot has to do with the geographical size, historical development, etc of the communities (for example the liberty district covers liberty, estrella and rainbow valley ....... which is some of buckeye & goodyear)

i agree that it's a bit of a mess and that at some point they will need to reshape the districts or at least try to create some kind of scaleable interest ...... although consolidation was shot down roundly

it's almost as confusing when you factor in the HS districts, although I think it skims down to just 2 for the general area (with Estrella Foothills being in the Buckeye district and Verrado being in the Agua Fria district...............)
