What are your interests? There is a nightclub scene in downtown scottsdale...It's fun if you are into that kind of thing. The age is 20-35 mainly.

Tempe is a college town, so most of the things there have a younger crowd.

North Scottsdale has some nightlife...There is a tapas bar at DC ranch that gets a 30+ crowd. There are a few happy hours at DC ranch that gets that same crowd. There are plenty of "plastic" people, to use that overused term(very concerned with looks/cars/what kind of job you have)...but a lot of normal, nice people as well.

I'd say it's kind of like LA on a small scale re: the night life scene.

I'm sure there are local bars that are fun...maybe if you told us the area you live/work someone could clue you in to a few.

I suggest joining a club, charity organization, etc., meeting some nice people you feel simpatico with and finding out where they hang.
