We liked Vistancia. We loved Anthem, DC Ranch, and Verrado (in that order). For us, it came down to several things. First, DC Ranch felt a bit exclusive to us, and we like to think of ourselves as snobs too! haha. In all truthfulness, we were looking to spend right around $1m +/-, and that was the bottom end of DC Ranch in 2005. We actually had a lot deposit, but withdrew it several days later. We liked Verrado a lot (same developer as DC Ranch, DMB), but decided that it was too far out, and too new, i.e., it would take years for all the infrastructure to catch up with us (i.e., the soccer leagues, baseball, TKD, swimming lessons, etc.). We liked Vistancia, but it was also rather new at the time, and they hadn't opened up some of the nicer/newer sections. We chose Anthem. At $850k we were near the upper end, but there were still lots of homes selling for $1.1-$1.2m, so we had some upside on our investment, it was near the end of new construction (Club side), and so there was lots of newer infrastructure, but the schools/libraries/grocery stores/Starbucks/etc were established, but still new, etc. It worked for us!
