Estrella (Estrella Mountain Ranch) has been named the Top Master Planned Community in Arizona for three straight years by Arizona Business Magazine. Estrella is in Goodyear.

What are your definitions of "top" and what price ranges are in those subdivisions? We're possibly relocating to the area and I'm looking for something up to about $1Million with great school and lots of kids...a subdivision for me would need great schools, lots of kids, and interesting architecture. Do these have that? Or do you have another way of measuring your "top"?

Agree on Vistancia as that is where we camp.

I also liked Verrado....Buckeye

Estrella Mt. Ranch

Marley Park...Surprise

Westwing....n. Peoria

Sonoran Mt. Ranch. n. Peoria

Loved the new Encanterra by Shea Homes....Queen Creek
The biggest golf course I have ever seen

Blackstone/Vistancia Has homes in your price range and some are custom builds. Very posh clubhouse

Desert Mountain in north Scottsdale would also be a top notch and posh place to live. I believe most of the homes are over a million but some of the older homes at the bottom may still fit your budget.

Well,

When I say top communities, and subdivisions.... I guess I'm talking about the best place(s) to purchase a home. Taking everything into consideration. Location, Price, School Systems, Amenities, distance to entertainment, traffic.. Everything you can think of..

Basically I'm just looking to get a list of the best communities in the Phoenix area. I just moved here to AZ, from MA. I don't know my ass from my elbow around here. When I asked for the best locations in Phoenix, I got a bunch of cross roads to avoid, etc.. How about just names of great communities?

Set someone like me in the right direction. I'd love to get a nice list going, so I can drive around and check places out.. Someone said to see Vistancia.. So I did.. and loved it...

What else should I see before deciding where I should move?

I'm an electrician.. I'll find work on either side of the valley...

So lets hear it.. Any suggestions?

I would suggest Arcadia in Phoenix (great schools and a choice of Public/Private), Biltmore, a historic neighborhood like Encanto-Palmcroft, Roosevelt, FQ Story, Brentwood, to name a few.
You can choose which style you prefer...in Phoenix, neighborhoods are basically broken down like this:

Victorian Era 1885-1905
Bungalow Era 1905-1925
Period Revival Era 1915-1940
Ranch Era 1935-1960

They are close to some of the best schools in Phoenix like Kenilworth, AZ School of the Arts, BioTech High School, Brophy, Xavier, St. Mary's, Arizona Academy of Science and Technology, Phoenix Prep. Academy, Khalsa Montesori, Benchmark School, Alhambra Traditional, to name a few.

Kenilworth Elementary School (http://www.phxelem.k12.az.us/school_sites/Kenilworth/index.htm - broken link)

Historic Neighborhoods of Phoenix

I agree; I love Estrella. Vistancia and Anthem have also won multiple national awards. Unsure about Verrado, but that is also a MPC we really like. Any of these are great choices. We chose Vistancia, and are glad we did. Best wishes in your search!
