Phoenix area social scene
Mid-twenties professional seriously considering relocating to the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. Can anyone offer any insight/comments/advice on the social/singles scene in Phoenix? I like to have a good time as much as the next person but I'm not into crazy clubs or overdoing it too often...is there a young but sophisticated scene going on?

There is a ton of stuff to get into! For a single professional male PHX is the place to be. I swear the single ladies outnumber the men like 2 to 1
check out a site called meetupDOTcom. Its social gathering site for people with the same hobbies. Plenty of things to do from hiking to quading to dating

Haha, let me add some information. I'm a lady And I'm getting a little nervous since Phoenix is compared to LA in so many posts. I do not dye anything, I do not go tanning, and, now that I'm out of college, I would die of mortification before I would carry a Louis Vuitton logo bag.

The Phoenix area social scene is unreal.....theres so many different bars/clubs/restaurants to pick from you ould go years without ever going to the same one twice...It just depends on what kind of mood you are in that night.....You can go to Mill Ave in tempe for a more casual atmosphere....thats going to be a lot of the 20's/college crowd....Old Town Scottsdale has both your casual bars/dive bars like Patty's, Gilligans, or Dos Gringos, and some pretty fun clubs like Myst, Axis/Radius, Suede....The crowd there is all over the place....lots of hte 20 something crowd, all the way up the the rich midlife crisis dudes lookin to bag a trophy .....just about every area of the Phoenix area has its fun places, wether it be Tempe, Scottsdale, downtown Phoenix, Mesa, Peoria, etc, but its fun to try and hit a couple different areas if you can, because they are all diferent crowds and scenes and keep weekends from getting repetitive

I didn't think it was over the top like that at all. For one, you would be referring to Scottsdale only pretty much. I expected it to be like that, fake tans (there are a lot of tanning salons here for whatever reason), bleached blondes, fake everything, from what I read. It really was not like that. If you ever been to South Beach, it is NOTHING compared to that. Scottsdale isn't any more over-the-top than parts of NYC. Die of moritification before you carry a Louis Vuitton logo bag? that is probably because you only rock Coach. Haha JK.

The bar/club scene has been described well in the other posts. The best way to meet the crowd you are looking for is to check out the activities you are into then check out the different "groups" that get together. Good bets for "a young sophisticated scene" would be the bike clubs. A lot of groups are around that are easy to join and some of those groups are filled with 20 something single professionals. Golf is another one (there are quite a few young professionals that do the golf thing here). And hiking is BIG. There is a jeep club with young single professionals...Well, you get my point.
Charity organizations are another great way to find like minded people. Off the top of my head I can't think of one in particular that has a big "young professional" contingent, but I know there are plenty. Maybe just start by checking out charities that you have an interest in.
Well, that's my 2 cents. I wouldn't expect to meet anyone that thrilling at the clubs. Not that they aren't FUN. They are and there are plenty of them. It will just be more fun to go to them with people you've already culled out and vetted in the daylight!
