I will be in Phoenix in June and am looking for some good restaurants. Any ideas? Thanks.

I am staying at the Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort for a conference. Not sure what part of the city it is in, but I'm not really partial to chains. I'm going with a colleague and we both like all types of food. We will have a car so we can go anywhere.

Oh ok that's a nice part of town. Try a Point in Time at the Point Tapatio. That is close to where you will be at.

Wow- can't believe you haven't gotten flooded with advice. I work as a chef's consultant here in town: Here are my picks...(i am a food snob, so consider the source)
Downtown (OldTown) Scottsdale: Sea Saw, Estate House, Confection, FoodBar, Fine's Cellar, all are on or close to Stetson Rd. almost any of the newer restaurants will be yummy. North Sct. : Zinc Bistro, Binkley's, Mosaic,Sassi.
Biltmore/Arcadia: closer to where you will be: Christopher's (will be opening new place-name to be determined..look up Chef Christopher Gross.), Delux, La Fontanella (best Italian in Arizona), La Grande Orange (a few cute restaurants there), the Vig (good for atmosphere- food pretty good too), Vincent's Bistro Market.
Downtown Phoenix- Cibo, Palette, Matt's Big Breakfast, Portland's, BARRIO CAFE !!!,
If that is not enough or if you have specific questions, let me know. I'm happy to help!

Roaring Fork in Scottsdale is really nice, I liked it (kinda fancy). For a western-ish dinner, head to the Pinnacle Peak Patio, thats kinda neat too. The Horny Toad in Carefree has great chicken, eat outside if you can.

Did I forget to mention...Please do not visit a chain during your stay! I do not encourge anyone else to throw their money away. We have AWESOME food- amazing culinary talent that seems to go unnoticed here...

Folks -- this thread is over 18 months old. I agree with most of lulubug's recommendations, but why revive this dusty old thread? SXMGirl's Conference is long over.

How are you going to mentioned downtown without mentioning PIZZERIA BIANCO!

Also, I recommend Sapporo on Scottsdale Rd and Thunderbird Rd if you like teppanyaki in a club/grand/upscale type environment, it's one of my favorite places in Phoenix.
