Default I lived there when I first arrived in AZ

Back in '02 it was Sunscape Apartments and we lived there for 2 years. We never had any problems but the parking area had some issues and that particular stretch of Hayden always had a few freaks.

Having said that we had an apartment with a great view of camelback and the golf course. You can walk over the golf course and go to the library or to a restaurant at the civic center and there's a fantastic restaurant on Hayden which is a 5 minute walk south called Carlsbad Tavern.

I never saw the completed condos so i can't speak to the insides. I would definitely talk to some of the owners before parting with $'s...

I lived there from 2000 to 2004. Moved out because I was burglarized by the next door neighbor. He broke a hole through the wall. It was Sunscape Apartments back then. Of course the numskull was caught and behind bars within 2 months.

If you want a condo, keep looking. These are conversions. That is, they have no garages. You get little upgrades, but other than that, there is no difference from apartments. Security is the same - your car can get broken into. I would imagine a lot of these are being rented out.

My definition of a condominium includes an attached garage. You get more value for your money that way. I will never ever buy a place advertised as a condominium but with no attached enclosed garage so that you can secure your car.

From the 2000 to 2004 perspective, it's borderline and it was getting worse. In those days there was a schizophrenic, for instance, who would walk southward along Hayden Road on the sidewalk adjacent to the apartments, shouting at no one in particular. Even a man like me is scared of nut cases.

thanks for your posts. I have just bought there and even with the nut cases ( which can be found almost anywhere at all levels of society) and the car vandalism - ( which also can happen anywhere) I found the condos quite pleasant - nice grounds, good proxy to the downtown and golf course. The layout of the condo I have is quite logical, two bedrooms two bathrooms, there is an in condo laundry, a large living room and suitable kitchen and dining room. All units are air conditioned. The HOA is high, $212 a month.

jixlogan,

I am glad you are happy there. I otherwised liked my place if not for the burglary. The entire balconey (I lived on second floor) was shaded all year around and was pleasant to be out on. It was the best balconey I had in any apartment. I think for $120k or so a unit, it's not a bad price for walking distance to the Scottsdale pub scene and to the Giants' spring training. I have very nice memories of that place other than the burglary.

I think it's a very good place. I have sold a couple of units and the people have been extremely happy with the location. It's close to the 101, Old Town Scottsdale - tons of restaurants, shopping, golf and arts. Many of the units have been upgraded - granite counters, cherry wood cabinets, two-toned paint.

I think you'll be happy with your decision - congratulations!

Hi, I am thinking of buying in there and I wanted to know if you can tell me about the HOA and if you are satisfied with how they are managing the complex.
