what I noticed here is that the contractors do not use insulation. So when it heats up it stays hot.
I have 3 bdrm apt 4 total windows in living room. 2 of these windows face west (dont ever do this I wont next time) sun blasts these windows in afternoon--melted blinds
the other two windows face south which get blasted with morning sun. all windows are fitted with 65x65 bali blinds
changed all light fixtures to cfl's, tinted windows (yes I asked management, as long as they are not reflective)"apollo window tinting in chandler 6026921195 bought bali diamond cell blackout shades(home depot) and today put up "heavy historical wall hangings" over the two west windows.
wall hangings are actually my mothers handmade winter patch quilts. wow the air conditioner didn't come on for the first time until 645pm with setting of programmable thermostat set at 77 degrees (yes I installed ). Back end of apt with bedrooms are significantly cooler than living room.
I use to work for a utility and I absolutely refuse to give any of them over 100.00 a month. My bill is 66 a month on the equalizer through APS. Since heat rises my rescue dog is cold all the time lol begs to go out on patio to warm up.
1500 sq ft 3 bedrms 2 bath

Default Window film

I put film (purchased at Lowe's) on my bedroom bay window. It's not a miracle, but it seems to cut the heat a bit. It would certainly prevent melting blinds. It's not noticeable from outside (I have the amber color) and plenty of light still comes in the window.

Do you have carpeting in your house? Pitch it to the landlord that his carpeting will last longer if the rays coming into the house are cut down and maybe he'll pay for it. Also, some of the films are eligible for energy tax rebates.

Fair warning, though, the directions make installation seem much easier than it actually is! And it's definitely a two-person job, unless perhaps your arms are 10 feet long. But once it's on, it does stay on. Mine's been in place for over a year and it's as good as the day I put it on.

Do you really want them on the window (bold)..I would think they would fade or the thread start to rot and fall apart...It would be awful (I think) if they get ruined....
