Dont waste your time, seriously. If you want some REAL Chicago pizza, fly up here and visit Lou Malnatis or Gino's East. Out-of-state joints are just pretenders, even if theyre originally from Chicago (figure that one out lol).

Moved here about 6 months ago from New Orleans and haven't found many places that blow me away, the ones I like best are: Roaring Fork, Postino, Chelese's Kitchen, Richardson's, Elements & Tarbells. Definetly have a drink at Phoenician.

Ignore this. Recommending Filibertos for a good Mexican food experience is like recommending WalMart for a good shopping experience. It works if you only have $5 at 2 a.m. and you are stoned/drunk, but otherwise it's an awful choice compared with much better purveyors.

Thank you for saying that! I had a burrito from them once, because I was pretty tipsy and I almost puked! The beans are watery, the tortillas flat and stale, the cheese, ok...just puked a little, LOL! It is not a good place and it's a chain of Mexican fast food restaurants...my cheap cousin took my grandmother once, and she was horrified and made him take her to Picosito in the West Valley (which isn't the best, but WAAAAAAY better). It was like taking a NYer used to Grimaldi's to eat at Papa John's...or someone from Phily to eat at Phily Cheese Steak Co. at Metro Center.

Couple of things...
First of all, I'm surprised no one has recommended Matt's Big Breakfast in downtown Phoenix. Good stuff, but usually a pretty long wait.
Second...I keep hearing people mentioned Carolina's for Mexican food. This is the Carolina's on like Buckeye Rd and 12st or around there is it? Run down shack looking place?

OH my oh my!!! I did forget to mention Matt's Big Breakfast. Saturday mornings, I am there every time, no matter the wait...its wonderful!!! Tell them to lightly toast the bacon though! Carolina's is great, gets my abuela's stamp of approval despite being in a hole in the wall. It's at 14th St. and Mohave...but I think I did mention it earlier.

So that is the one? I drove by there this morning and noticed it and figured it must have been some other one. I gotta say, it's a bit too hole in the wall...I would probably go, but I can't think of anyone else that would go with me.

Hi! I'm new to the area. (Near Frank Lloyd Wright and Scottsdale Rd) Where would you go in this area for good Mexican food? There are tons of places around here but haven't a clue on what's good. I would appreciate recommendations! Not too spicy though, please!
Thanks!
I concur--Gino's East in Chicago for Pizza!!
