I'm saying!! Phoenix pays so low compared to where I have looked. That's puzzling to me as well.

interesting. Maybe the job market is saturated. Supply and demand. To much supply, not much demand.
I had a hard time making much of a living in Denver.

I find the sun in Phoenix extremely wearing. I go outside and think I can't bear to see
it anymore. I don't even like the winters here. It's just the same, only slightly cooler.
I can stand quite a lot of sun, but not this much.

There are not a lot of colleges and graduate schools that forced you to come here versus other cities of similar size. You pretty much have to go out of your way to move to Phoenix. And I have a hard time believing that people didn't know what they were getting into and had to live here for 5 years before they realized they hated the heat and the suburban nature of the city. Give me a break, I didn't need to spend 5 years in Chicago before I realized it was really cold and a place that wasn't for me. Do you need 5 years to realize it's hot in Phoenix and it's a suburbia that lacks an urban core? No, you knew that before you moved here so why whine about it now? If you hate heat and the desert, why on earth would you move to Phoenix when you could go to so many other areas like Texas for example and experience better jobs and a lower cost of living with a more temperate climate. If you love the free things that Cali offers like an ocean and a beach, why would you move to a desert? People didn't have to move to Phoenix. The truth is they chose to move here despite the heat and are now failing to take responsibility for their bad decision by putting down Arizona and Phoenix. I hate cold. I'm not going to move to Chicago and then complain on citydata that Chicago is too cold. And the weather patterns didn't suddenly change in the last 20 years despite the unscientific folk tales spread on this site. Go to any meteorlogical database and the weather has been consistent over the past 20 years in this city. You knew what you were getting into. It makes no sense why so many people who have a passionate hatred toward Phoenix chose to move here in the first place. I truly question the intelligence of some of these people. The utter lack of common sense I've read on this forum in regards to people complaining about the heat

I gave you points. Very well said, and I myself lived there for 12 years so I knowwhat the weather, living conditions, many areas, wages and work is like, despite how some may try to glorify it. But thats why they are still there and Im here. Though its not perfect here either, can anyone name ONE place on earth that is, 100% of the time?? Im not talking about the land of Oz, either.

well he is kind of right. It's still just as sunny in the winter, and the days can actually be quite warm (60s - 70s). The only MAJOR difference between summer and winter is that it actually gets pretty cold at night in the winter, which is a much welcomed change.

i meant to add also that there is no change in the landscape between winter and summer either. No snow, the trees and plant life look essentially the same etc.

Well, yeah, Phoenix is in the sonoran desert...sooooo I hope that doesn't need much explanation.
Average winter temps are 50's 60's moving back into the 70's in March. Thats a good 50 degrees or more cooler than summer temps. And yes, overnight lows do get quite chilly in Phoenix. But the state outside of Phoenix experiences the seasons and very cold temps. People live in Phoenix to avoid the winter blues and the snow and day time freezing temperatures. In the winter, the valley doesn't change its nickname from "The Valley of the Sun" to something else. It remains sunny.
